Pickleball in Brewster, Massachusetts
Brewster has two distinct pickleball routes. The town's large seasonal group fills the Community Tennis Courts with organized morning play, while Ocean Edge Resort runs ten dedicated courts with clinics, leagues, lessons, and staff coordinated games for club members and overnight resort guests. The town program is the practical choice for residents and Cape visitors, and Ocean Edge is especially useful for beginners or travelers staying on the property.
Where to Play Pickleball in Brewster
- Brewster Community Tennis Courts, 384 Underpass Road, host the Brewster Pickleball Group every day from 7 to 10 a.m. between May 1 and September 30. The group uses four youth tennis courts and four full tennis courts, with portable nets available as needed. Resident membership is $50 for the season, nonresident membership is $100 with limited enrollment, and players age 80 or older participate free after registration. After 10 a.m., courts are open to the public on a first come basis around other reservations.
- Ocean Edge Resort, 2907 Main Street, operates ten dedicated pickleball courts for club members and resort guests. Courts at Britterige Village and Blueberry Pond are open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the season. Resort guests pay $20 per court for up to two hours, while members receive court rentals with their club access. The program also includes staff coordinated open play, beginner and intermediate clinics, advanced training, leagues, and private instruction.
Beginner Pickleball and Lessons
New players staying at Ocean Edge should start with the weekend Intro Clinic. It runs Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and covers rules, scoring, technique, and gameplay for beginners and low intermediate players. The fee is $40 for club members and $45 for resort guests, and a paddle rental is included for clinic participants.
Residents and other Cape players can enter the sport through the all skill Brewster Pickleball Group, but it is organized play rather than a formal beginner lesson. A first time player who wants individual instruction before joining the morning rotation should use the Coaches section. Once the basics are comfortable, the town group offers a large pool of recreational partners and uses TeamReach to coordinate play.
Open Play and Organized Pickleball
The Brewster Pickleball Group reserves the Community Tennis Courts from 7 to 10 a.m. every day from May through September. Seasonal members may play throughout that block. Day visitors can use the same organized play on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday for $20 cash, paid on site. Drop ins are not accepted Monday, Wednesday, or Friday, and all participants must be 18 unless accompanied by an adult.
Ocean Edge runs staff coordinated open play Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to noon, and Saturday and Sunday from 8 to 11 a.m. Open play is complimentary for club members and $10 for resort guests. Private league play closes the courts Monday from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m., and Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Visiting Brewster and Looking for a Game?
If you are visiting alone between May and September, use the Brewster Pickleball Group drop in on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, or Sunday from 7 to 10 a.m. Bring $20 cash and arrive during the organized block. The group has more than 300 players across skill levels, so this is the clearest public route into a game without bringing three partners.
If you are staying at Ocean Edge, its staff coordinated open play is the easier resort option and costs $10. A family or foursome can reserve a court for up to two hours for $20. Outside the town group's seasonal morning schedule, the Community Tennis Courts are better suited to players who already have partners, while Ocean Edge access remains limited to club members and resort guests.
